What is the advantage of using a mobile groomer?

You and your pet are spared the trauma of a car trip to the groomer's.  Your pet is not separated from you for hours at a time in a noisy stressed out enviornment. He is cared for in your driveway with the comfort of seeing his home from the window of the grooming van. He is the only pet worked on at a time in a clean, freshly sanitized enviornment.

How do you control nervous or aggressive pets?

Because of the quiet atmosphere in a mobile grooming salon, it is rare to come across a dog who is unable to be groomed. Every pet has some "issues" with the grooming procedure.  Some dislike their nails cut, others are uncomfortable with their faces being scissored or combed out. And many pets don't like the powerful  blowers which are used to blow the water from their hair and produce the beautiful puff ball appearance of a freshly dried coat. As I get to know your pet, I know what bothers him, and I will work him past his unhappiness with patience and gentle voice. Occasionally I will ask an owner to come into the van to help hold a squirmy pet or offer some soothing words. This happens more often with cats.

How long does a grooming take, and what is involved?

The average style and bath takes about an hour. If a coat is very matted, or a pet very antsy, the time may increase.

Your pet is evaluated at your door, and we decide together what type of hairstyle is best for you and your pet. I put him on the grooming table, trim his nails and clean out his ears. I then give him a roughed out haircut. He is then given a soothing warm bath with his ears protected with cotton balls. The shampoo used is chosen according to his coat type. If he has an allergy history, I will use a natural anti allergy shampoo and conditioner. At this point, some pets have an optional teeth cleaning and breath treatment. He is then wrapped in fluffy towels and dried with a powerful room temperature dryer which blows the water from his coat quickly and completely. His final coat styling takes place now. He is finished with a bow or bandana and a clean smelling cologne.
